I grew up bored and restless in the backwoods of West Virginia. I was never praised for my ability to twist commercial jingles into taunting lyrics and occasionally beaten for my full-page ads mocking former classmates. But life has a funny way of rewarding those with a unique talent. Cruel becomes clever as we mature. Ten years later, I was being paid to exercise that same creativity for brands like PowerBar and SKYY Vodka. I’m still restless, but never bored.
I established VDO Design in 2001 as a creative network for the many designers and writers I’d met over the years. Friends became partners and our 9-5 became the un-agency: a creative alliance of independent professionals who share an entrepreneurial spirit. As our network grew and our talent dispersed, we realized that where we work matters less than how we work. Our collaboration is powered by a high-speed internet connection rather than brick & mortar. And our defining purpose remains our biggest goal: the creation of high-quality design and content that fits your budget.
